Tokaj Fesztiválkatlan
The Tokaj Fesztiválkatlan is an open-air cultural and event venue created by transforming a former open-pit mine. Blending with the natural terrain and featuring an auditorium with a capacity of 2,580, the facility hosts concerts, theatrical performances, and community events, as well as serving as the start and finish point for running races and sporting events.
Grave and memorial house of Reb Steiner Saje, Jewish cemetery
The grave of Reb Shayele Steiner—the world-renowned Hasidic miracle-working rabbi—is located in the Jewish cemetery of Bodrogkeresztúr and serves as one of the most significant Jewish pilgrimage sites in Hungary today. A memorial house established in his former home showcases his life, his teachings, and the settlement's rich Jewish heritage.
Bodrogzug Landscape Protection Area
The Tokaj-Bodrogzug Landscape Protection Area is a floodplain region rich in exceptional natural treasures, bordered by the Tisza and Bodrog rivers; here, canals, oxbow lakes, marshy meadows, and riparian forests preserve the landscape's unique wildlife. Guided water tours offer the chance to explore this wild, scenic aquatic realm by canoe or kayak, while visitors learn about the area's protected plant and bird species and the history of the floodplain landscape's formation.
Tokaj-Hegyalja Panoramic Hiking Trail
The Tokaj-Hegyalja Panorama Hiking Trail is a marked hiking route nearly 90 kilometers long, stretching from Mád to Sátoraljaújhely across the most characteristic landscapes of the Tokaj wine region. The trail passes through vineyards, forests, and viewpoints, as well as several historic settlements, showcasing the natural and cultural treasures of the wine region.
Statue of Christ the Redeemer and a mining lake
The "Blessing Christ" statue in Tarcal is one of Europe’s largest granite statues of Jesus, offering a stunning panoramic view of the Tokaj wine region. The picturesque quarry lake and panoramic promenade located near the statue make for a delightful excursion for lovers of nature and scenic vistas.
Megyer Hill Tarn
The Megyer-hegy Tarn, located near Sárospatak, is a quarry lake formed at the site of a former millstone quarry and surrounded by steep rhyolite tuff cliffs. In addition to hiking trails and scenic viewpoints, the area also offers via ferrata routes for those who enjoy active recreation.
Sárospatak Végardó Baths
A thermal and outdoor pool complex with a history spanning several decades; its thermal water was discovered in the late 1950s. The facility offers thermal pools, a swimming pool, leisure pools, water slides, and a sauna world, making it an ideal destination for both family relaxation and active leisure.
Sátoraljaújhely Adventure Park and the Bridge of National Unity
The Sátoraljaújhely Adventure Park is a popular active tourism hub in the Zemplén region, offering visitors a bobsleigh track, a chairlift, climbing walls, rope courses, and a wide range of outdoor activities. The park is home to the Bridge of National Cohesion, inaugurated in 2024; this pedestrian suspension bridge spans approximately 700 meters, connecting Szár Hill and Castle Hill. Its glass-paneled walkway offers a unique experience as visitors traverse the heights of the Zemplén Mountains.
Nyíregyháza Zoo (Sóstó Zoo)
Located in the forest of Sóstógyógyfürdő, the Nyíregyháza Zoo is a renowned European zoo that has repeatedly won the title of "Europe's Best Zoo" in its category. Spanning 35 hectares, the park is home to over 600 animal species living in enclosures that closely mimic their natural habitats; its attractions include the Oceanarium, a shark tunnel, the "Ice World," and various themed areas showcasing wildlife from several continents.
Tokaj-Hegyalja wine culture
The Tokaj wine region is built upon centuries-old traditions of viticulture and winemaking, with its values preserved by numerous wineries boasting rich family histories and heritage. Wineries operating in the region—such as Bott Pince, Hangavári Pincészet, Patrícius Borház, Dereszla Pincészet, and Füleky Pincészet—craft their wines with diverse approaches but share a common goal: showcasing the unique character of the Tokaj terroir. Visitors can explore the world of Furmint, Hárslevelű, Aszú, and other Tokaj wines through guided tastings, cellar and vineyard tours, and estate visits.
